Reroot Outdoors

To be grounded by a place and return time and time again to find that center. That is what being in the outdoors does for me. Reconnecting to the earth and self. This daily practice is the inspiration for Reroot Outdoors.

Custom bicycle bags built to last. Made to order in a one person shop.

Reroot Outdoors focuses on quality, sustainability, and supporting other domestic businesses. Materials are chosen for durability and sourced from US manufacturers and suppliers. Recycled materials are being incorporated as viable options become available. When possible, shop tools and office supplies come from local arts parts and building materials reuse stores. I value supporting local, independent small businesses that are environmentally friendly.

And let’s not forget that bikes are amazing. For fun, for adventure, for around town, for every day. Get out there in whatever way feels good to you.

Who

Engineer, farmer, always on the lookout for the next bike adventure, be it in search of ice cream or wildflowers along the trail.

Hello there! I'm Shan, the owner, sewist, and Chief Ice-Cream Officer at Reroot Outdoors. I'm also a recovering structural engineer, part time organic farmer, and outdoor adventurer. My love of being outside moving under my own power is what led me to start Reroot Outdoors.

Several years ago, I decided to step back from the daily grind and take some time off from my engineering job. At the time I was living in Washington and applied to a few farm internships in the area. I spent several months working at an organic goat dairy and a season at a draft horse powered vegetable farm. I learned a lot of things during that time, but none more valuable than the importance of following one’s passion.

After moving back to Colorado and another year of engineering, I realized it was time to do that. I took a position at a local gear repair shop mending tents, backpacks, jackets, pants, and all sorts of outdoor gear. It was a great learning experience to see how things were constructed, used, and failed. With that knowledge, and many years of my own experience cycling, bike commuting, hiking, skiing, running, and sewing, I started Reroot Outdoors. Thanks for coming to visit, learning what we’re all about, and being a part of this adventure.
